We played the song to a number of different people from an age range of about 16 - 30. Playing the song to different people within this age range would allow us to gage what our target audience would be for the song. We knew that a ground that not everyone would have the same feelings about the song and that it would not be right for everyone. We asked them to write down what the song made them think about and would take into account what we should use in the video.
We recieved a number of different feelings and objects that the song made people think about including;
- Love
- Guitar's
- Heartache
- The feeling of 'losing something or someone'
We also gathered from our research that it was females that enjoyed the song more, although many of the males that answered our information that they would listen to the song occasionally. From this we gathered that we would make the song to be about heartache from a males perspective about loosing this partner/girlfriend. Many of the idea's that we have in mind for the video also come from the videos by The Script.
We also asked them questions about what we could do for our ancillary tasks. Firstly we asked whether they would prefer to see a magazine advert or a website for the artist, from the feedback that we gained the majority answer was they would prefer to see a magazine advert for the artist, as from the people we questioned they did not look at an artists website unless looking for tour or festival dates. We took this into consideration and decided this was also the case for us as a group and have therefore decided to do the magazine advertisment which would also link in nicely with the digipak that we will be creating.
